Wash your hands with disinfectant sope when you arrive at the lab and again before you leave. Purchase a lab coat and safety glasses, bring them to class, and use them. Keep your workspace free of all unnecessary materials. Backpacks, purses should be placed in the cubbyhole by the front door of the lab. Disinfect work areas before and after use. Use a disinfectant, such as 10% bleach or 70% ethanol solution, to wipe down benches and work areas both before and after working with culture. Lable everything cleary. All cultures, chemicals, disinfectant and media should be clearly labelled with their names and dates. Culture medium (or media) is a solid(by incorporating agar in the Broth), liquid (Broth -without agar), or semi solid designed to support the growth of microorganisms. Enriched Media Enriched Media is Solid media . It contains the nutrients required to support the growth of a wide variety of organisms, including fastidious ones( that will grow only if special nutrients are present is this culture medium).
