  • I'm udayabaskar s, I got 1st Rank in Pondicherry University entrance exam (2019), now I share my knowledge with you how to crack Pondicherry University entrance exam. First go through the basic things of Microbiology, After that check the previous year question papers to get an idea about the types of questions asked and study accordingly.( In below I also mentioned some important topics so please check it out)

  • According to my knowledge there is no specific syllabus for entrance, so please don't waste your time to search syllabus.

Important topics:
  • 1. General Microbiology(including basics of immunology, Virology, bacteriology, mycology and culture media type and use) and   go through the MCQ in Microbiology - G.vidya Sagar.
  • 2. Cell and molecular biology basics
  • 3. Techniques in biology (eg. Electrophoresis, chromatography, etc.,)
  • 4. English grammar(question tags etc.,) and aptitude questions (coding decoding, blood relation, missing number,etc.,
  • Practice Mock test,Mock test is also an important part of the preparation.
  • Time management, create a schedule and study accordingly.
  • Stay fit and healthy, only preparation is not enough, so maintain your health and stay fit. keep your mind positive and don't think negatively.

What is Enriched and Enrichment Media in Microbiology

In this post I will simplify the two most important microbiological terms. Even some Microbiology students are confused by these two terms. I hope your doubts will be resolved once you read this post.   What is culture medium (or media)? Culture medium (or media) is a solid(by incorporating agar in the Broth), liquid (Broth -without agar), or semi solid designed to support the growth of microorganisms. Enriched Media Enriched Media is Solid media . It contains the nutrients required to support the growth of a wide variety of organisms, including fastidious ones( that will grow only if special nutrients are present is this culture medium).
